The Tamar Inn on the Quay at Calstock has approached Cornwall Council for pre-application advice to change the use of a two-storey store to a self-contained cottage; to extend its restaurant into the rear terrace and to extend the flat roof over the restaurant to provide guest accommodation to the first and second floors — erieght rooms in all.
A statement to support the application said: ‘Social distancing measures imposed by Covid-19 have caused immense financial damage to an entertainment industry which relies on a high number throughout for viability.
‘Although these measures have relaxed to a certain extent recently, the prospect of resurgence will ever remain a threat.
‘In order to recoup seating numbers lost to social distancing, it is proposed to increase visitor accommodation by extending the existing terrace area.’
