DISCOVER Christmas through the ages at Buckland Abbey this year, with a five-day festive event for all the family.

There will be a variety of costumed characters, decorations, food, music and much more from the Tudor, Georgian and Victorian periods.

Christmas lunches will be available throughout the event, and visitors are invited to join in with after-dinner fun with activities including date stuffing, biscuit decorating, Tudor music, children's trails and bauble making.

Children can also visit Father Christmas as he makes a stop at the abbey.

Helen Royall, house manager at Buckland Abbey, said: 'Our Christmas event is an ideal opportunity for the whole family to come along and have some fun, and also learn new and interesting things about the beautiful surroundings and rich history of the Abbey within a festive atmosphere.'

The event will take place on Friday December 18 to Wednesday 23 December, from 11am to 4pm everyday.

Christmas lunches will be served on 11 to 13 and 18 to 23 December, 12 noon to 2pm.
