SPRING has sprung early at the Times. The January 16 issue includes no less than three splendid new features with the promise of more bright blossoms in the coming months.

But I hope Cllr Ted Sherrell agrees that the acrid smoke from cigarettes, like the sound of the Scottish bagpipes, is most enjoyed when it is receding far, far into the distance.
