TAVISTOCK RFC have taken delivery of a new scrum machine for use by its junior teams. It is the successful culmination of a year-long project by the club and all the age groups who have raised funds ? a sponsored yomp over the moors, a car boot sale then the grand raffle at the end of season barbecue all helped them reach the target. Funding was also awarded from West Devon Borough Council through their Sports Grant programme and this was matched by funding from local businesses. The Rhino machine will be used for scrummage training by the club?s junior teams, supervised by the club?s coaches. Matt Wood, Tavistock Junior Club coaching co-ordinator, said: ?The equipment will better enable us to coach our forwards in effective technique. ?The players enjoy the machine and we have already seen a marked difference in player confidence and technique. I would like to thank everyone who has helped us with this project; it?s been a great community effort.?
