A NEW exhibition featuring Edwardian photographs that have not been seen for more than 100 years opens at Callington Heritage Centre on Good Friday.

Local photographer Terry Gimblett has resurrected some old glass photographic plates taken by his grandfather Reginald between 1900 and 1915, to reveal some amazing photographs.

Terry is the third generation of the Gimblett family to serve the Callington area as photographers. He rescued the plates several decades ago but it is only very recently, with the help of modern technology, that he has been able to produce the photographs.

More than 50 of the images will be the centrepiece at the Callington Heritage Centre's exhibition entitled 'An Edwardian Photographer'. Centre chairman Lynda Small said: 'We are so very fortunate to have these wonderful photographs that provide a snapshot of the era and have been the catalyst for this exhibition and our new book 'Edwardian Callington'.

The centre is appealing for assistance from the public as many of the people from the beginning of the last century are unnamed.

The photographs were taken in and around the Callington area and include servants, children, families and individuals both indoor and outdoors.

Mr Gimblett will open the exhibition on Good Friday at 10am and it will be open every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday from 10am to 4pm.
