The hosts took most of the honours at the Mid Devon Hunt Pony Club's annual tetrathlon with their teams coming first and second, beating ten other teams.

Sixty-nine competitors from 15 clubs enjoyed some unexpected sunshine in Okehampton's Simmons Park on Saturday for the first three phases: shooting, running and swimming. There were some great performances from the Mid Devon competitors, including a best run for Jessica Mortimore in the novice class; best run, shoot and swim for both Charlotte Rowe and Daniel Worrall in their classes; and in the Under 12 girls, Katherine Manchip had the best shoot, Vicky Medlyn the best run and Rebecca Rowe the best swim.

Unfortunately, the weather on Sunday was atrocious but despite rain and gales, the Mid Devon riders made light of the conditions with Ellen Bright, Jessica Mortimore, Scarlett and Antony Geering, Charlotte and Rebecca Rowe, Lauren Fuller, Lydia Svensson and Daniel Worrall all having clear rounds.

There was little to choose between the two Mid Devon teams with the 'Dragons' just beating the 'Demons' with the other teams trailing well behind them.

The organisers expressed thanks to the helpers, all of whom were soaked to the skin.
