Okehampton 2

Penzance A 6

OKEHAMPTON men's hockey team's final league match was a hectic encounter.

Penzance realised their ambition but were made to work harder than the scoreline would suggest.

Okehampton took the lead when George Stephens pushed the ball through the defence and into the goal.

Penzance equalised only for Okehampton to score again, this time from a short corner when Steve Sage collected the ball on the post and lifted it over the keeper.

Penzance equalised before half-time and the second half proved to be a scrappier affair.

The visitors quickly scored two goals and as Okehampton pushed up in an effort to reply they were caught short on the break and Penzance scored two more.

With only a few games left in the league Okehampton are in sixth place. There have been some good and some disappointing results, but it is encouraging that a number of younger players have played this season.
