I DO not know how many more times I have to explain before it becomes clear to the irremediably disaffected of Bere Alston that they are tilting at extinct windmills. The issues raised yet again, this time by Mr Bellchambers, (Letters 9 March 9) are dead ones, finally laid to rest in March 2005 by adoption of the Local Plan Revision and completely irrelevant to my committee?s decision last December. That decision was about conditions to be applied to a planning consent; the principle of development had been established nine months previously, was not open for further consideration then and is even less so now. I intend no discourtesy to Mr Bellchambers and I take no pleasure in iterating and reiterating facts about the planning process that so displease him, but I simply do not know what more I can say than that the final whistle was blown a year ago and he was on the side that came second. End of story. Really! Cllr Roger W Mathew Chairman West Devon Planning and Licensing Committee
