PEOPLE can join the Tavy and Tamar Apple Group later this month for a hands-on day, learning the art of summer tree pruning.

The course will be led by apple expert Charles Staniland. Those attending should wear suitable strong clothing and boots and are invited to bring suitable tools, if you have them.

The course is this Saturday (July 17), from 10am to 2pm, at an orchard within or near the Bere Peninsula. The cost is £14 and £12 for members. For more information, contact Brian Lamb on 01822 841309.
