THE acclaimed Mass for Peace written by Karl Jenkins to mark the new Millennium and entitled The Armed Man, will be performed by the Chagford Singers in the church on Saturday, December 10. Listeners to Classic FM will know this piece well, others will find it accessible, enjoyable and thrilling with its elements of military marching tunes, impressions of war and devastation, and features of the Mass with echoes of Palestrina, Faure and Rutter. A selection of carols will complete the programme which will be conducted by Christopher Fletcher and accompanied by the Divertimento Ensemble.
