A SEVEN-year old raised more than £1,000 for charity on a 15-mile cycle ride last Saturday — alongside 2012 Tour of Britain winner Jonathan Tiernan-Locke.
Tyler Tomes, a pupil at Bere Alston Primary School, cycled from Coypool in Plymouth to Tavistock along Drake's Trail to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, a charity close to the family's heart.
Tyler's cousin Arran was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2010, and the Okehampton fundraising group for LLR was set up by Mary Tomes, Tyler's grandmother around 18 months ago.
It was an emotional affair for family and friends who watched Tyler cycle across the finish line.
Tyler's father, Peter Tomes, who accompanied him, said: 'I am very proud of Tyler — when we got to the end it was quite emotional.
'Tyler said he wanted to do the Tour De Moor this year but he was too young, so we decided to do our own! On the day he did get quite tired but he did so very well.'
Tyler was also given a surprise at the end when his father told him the bike, from Dartmoor Cycles, was now his.
