ON behalf of the Tavistock and Yelverton Marie Curie Cancer Care Fundraising Group, I would like to thank the numerous businesses in Tavistock and district that hosted daffodil boxes during the whole of March for the Great Daffodil Appeal.   Thanks to them, a grand total of £1207.87 was raised. We would also like to extend a special thank you to Mr Clive Pattison, landlord of the Halfway House, Grenofen, who hosted a quiz night for us.  He also kindly sponsored the first prize in the raffle that was held.  As a result, a further £198 was raised.  Another quiz is scheduled for Sunday, June 15. Marie Curie Cancer Care gives people with all terminal illnesses the choice to die at home.  Our nurses provide them and their families with free hands-on care and emotional support, in their own homes, right until the end. Caroline Greep Chairman Tavistock and Yelverton Fundraising Group Marie Curie Cancer care PLYMOUTH and West Devon 'Talking Newspaper for the Blind', a Tavistock based charity, held a successful 'Flag Day' street collection in the town and at Morrisons on Thursday and Friday, April 10 and 11. Thanks to the usual generosity of Tavistock townsfolk and many visitors, a total of £1,380 was collected. The annual street collection is crucial in making it possible to continue providing a free, weekly 'Talking Newspaper' service to the blind in the West Devon area. Through the Tavistock Times, we would like, once again, to thank the kind people of Tavistock and everyone involved in the collection, for their generous response.
