BRIDESTOWE Parish Council should consider increasing a donation to its counterparts in Sourton to help meet the cost of recent golden jubilee celebrations, it was suggested at last Thursday's meeting.

Sourton held a variety of jubilee events culminating in a spectacular firework display. No jubilee events were organised by the council in Bridestowe, but a £100 donation was sent to Sourton towards the cost of its celebrations.

Cllr Joan Calmady-Hamlyn told the parish council she had heard that Sourton was 'a little upset' that almost everyone from Bridestowe went to the jubilee celebrations and only a small donation had been made.

She wondered whether more could be given.

But councillors decided against increasing the sum, agreeing instead to thank Sourton for their excellent celebrations.
