AS most people are aware, the museum has closed until next May for major refurbishment. It has been a huge operation to empty the building, and I would like to publicly thank everybody that has been involved. We have had the most marvellous band of volunteers, who have worked so hard and cheerfully for many weeks.
The Army from Okehamton Camp used their considerable expertise to remove the very large items, and have been incredibly supportive and helpful; and we have been extremely grateful to them all.
The White Hart have been very kind to us and Stewart MacCullock is hoping to get the old Bull Nose Morris working, so it can be used for things like carnivals.
Maurie Webber, our curator, has been the overseer, and I am sure that she and her assistants Jenny and Paul must have heaved a huge sigh of relief when the last item was removed. People have been very kind donating storing facilities.
I hope the people of Okehampton and surrounding villages will be very proud of their museum when we reopen next May.
With many thanks to all involved.
