REMEMBRANCE Sunday proved that the people of Tavistock and surrounding districts preferred to turn out in their hundreds to honour the fallen rather than watch international rugby on TV.

Through the good offices of your columns may we thank the many people and organisations for the success of the day.

For the first time for a few years the parade was led by a marching band, Stannary Brass, thanks to the co-operation of the Albaston branch of the RBL who agreed to bring their parade forward by 30 minutes, thus enabling the band to perform at their parade and then make their way to Tavistock in order to lead the parade here.

Their performance was excellent.

To the police, in the form of Sgt Woods, who co-operated in saving valuable minutes by allowing the band members to drive down Russell Street to the car park.

To West Devon Borough Council who again co-operated fully by reserving car parking spaces for the band, again saving valuable time.

To Rosemary and Robbie Dobie of Dobie Press for printing and donating again ? free of charge ? the order of service programmes.

To John Collicott who provided, as he has done for many years, the public address system, again free of charge. To all the many adults and children who attended the parade. From the RBL Tavistock. Thank you.
