LAMERTON Parish Committee held their third annual duck race on June 11 in Broady Field, Lamerton by permission of Mr and Mrs W Eggins on a glorious Sunday afternoon, which was extremely well attended. Winners of the duck race were Jemma Exworthy, Michael Vaughan-Lee, Oscar Clare and Julia White. May I on behalf of the committee, sincerely thank Mr and Mrs Manton (Aerial Masters), R Carr (Carr?s Garage), P Statton, Mr and Mrs J Hyde (Eqwest Vet Centre) for sponsoring the race and the many individuals, organisations, and businesses who so generously donated, supported and helped in any way to make the day such a tremendous success. The event raised a staggering £1,566 for the Lamerton Sports and Community Centre Project. Valerie Hill Chairperson Lamerton Parish Hall Committee ON behalf of the RNLI, who now also equip and train the lifeguards on many of the beaches in the south west, we would like to thank all those people who donated during our flag week collections. The RNLI relies entirely on voluntary contributions to fund its annual budget which is this year in excess of £100 million. We collected £651.45 in Tavistock, £315.57 in Yelverton, £958.75 over the two days at Morrison?s and £344.99 in the Bere Peninsula, giving a total of £2,270.68.
