ON behalf of Girlguiding in Tavistock, I would like to thank local residents for their kind support of our 2009 Christmas post. Almost 7,000 cards were posted in our boxes this year, including three without addresses and a dozen for far-flung places like London and Plymouth.
Someone even posted us their Euro Lottery ticket, but unfortunately it wasn't a winner!
The girls had an especially difficult job with the snowy weather that weekend just before Christmas, but we hope everyone received their cards in good time.
It is part of our Promise to do our best, and while the snow may have seemed like fun for the children it did make access to some areas of the town a bit tricky.
Members of Girlguiding are always looking for opportunities to be of service to the community, and as we celebrate our centenary we hope the general public will continue to appreciate our work in helping youngsters to develop into responsible citizens.
