DURING the past six weeks there have been a number of events and projects taking place in Lamerton all fundraising for the Lamerton Sports and Community Centre project. In fact, around £2,000 has been raised, bringing the total since April 1 to just under £10,000.

On behalf of the Lamerton Parish Hall Committee, may I express our most sincere thanks to Wendy Soper and Barbara Meikle for the Body Shop party, to Robert and Janie White at the Blacksmith?s Arms for allowing us to hold the quiz night in their function room, to the Golding family from Kent who organised the quiz and to Carol Golding for securing pound for pound matched funding from her employer Barclays Bank for this event. To Irene Hicks who successfully completed a five-mile sponsored walk after earlier this year undergoing replacement knee surgery.

We are very indebted to Ian and Angela Minshull for holding a coffee morning/craft fair at Theale on November 15.

That same evening Lamerton Handbell Ringers joined forces with ?The Larks? ? a newly formed group of singers, to hold a very well supported choral and handbell concert in the hall.

Saturday November 22 saw the annual Christmas fayre in the hall. £620 was raised, surpassing previous year?s figures.

Ongoing projects include the sale of prints and cards of the painting of HMS Lamerton, all generously donated by Mr and Mrs Walton Walters and the sale of Lamerton Handbell Ringers? CD and cassette.
