Whitchurch v Plymouth Citybus WHITHURCH fielded eight players under 20 in their annual fixture against Plymouth Citybus. Put into bat first Daymond and Sherrell made a steady start, putting on 54 before Daymond missed a full toss. After that, chaos descended as six further wickets fell as Ennis achieved his best ever figures of 5 for 31. Tom Sherrell was one of the wickets to fall. His slightly fortuitous 56 showed great promise as he played some fluent shots in between being dropped four times. At 111 for 7 the game looked to be running away from Whitchurch until man of the match Andy Wallace scored a flawless maiden century (106 not out) in an 8th wicket partnership of 130 with Curson. Fifteen fours and four sixes showed how effectively he punished the bad balls. The final total of 244 was always going to be a tall order for a depleted Citybus team. At 76 for 1 after 12 overs the chase was on with Crocker (73) leading the way with some powerful hitting. Captain Churchill brought himself onto bowl and took charge of the game with 3 for 3, including the wicket of Crocker. Although Hammett (21) put up some resistance at the end, the result was no longer in doubt and Citybus finished on 191 all out.
