THE fourth round of tennis in the Plymouth and District League is under way. Some teams have had a rest this week while others, have had to contend with wind and showers.

RESULTS for Tavistock Tennis Club — Division three: Men's C (Ray Hinton and Bernard Mowle, Matt Smith and Ron Skinner) v Tavistock D (Bill Sparks and Pete Rodgers, Paul Newton and Jeremy Hyde), played at Tavistock. The C team won 7-4 and  now have 20 points to the D team's 18 points.

Division six: Men's E (John White and Alex Samborne, Peter Bradley and John Stewart) v St Budeaux D (home), won 7-3, points 26.

Division seven: Third round Men's F (John Mulley and George Newman, Mike Webb and Paul Jackson) v Mannamead D (away) lost 0-8, points 15.

Division one: Ladies A (Sue Parsons and Alice Anstey, Amanda Goodison and Alison West) v Mannamead A (home) lost 2-8, points 16. The strong and consistent opposition was too much for the As this week.

Division three: Ladies B had little joy finding a fourth player this week so Roma McMahon and Olga Rogers travelled to Ivybridge on their own, expecting to forfeit  four sets. Unfortunately for the Ivybridge D team, one of their players incurred an injury which resulted in a draw 4-4, as Tavistock won all the sets that were played. Points 23.

Division five, third round: Ladies C (Liz Webb and Wendy George, Kathy Bryne and Melanie Broadhead) v Devonshire C (home) won 6-2, points 15.
