YELVERTON Tennis Club held its third Golf Day by kind permission of Tavistock Golf Club.
Seven teams took part on a glorious sunny day followed by a carvery meal and presentation of prizes. The winning team represented The Whitchurch Inn with team members of Paul Langton, Rachel Nephrey, John Lyddon and Richard Brade.
Hot on their heels were Taylors Tigers comprising Chris Taylor, Andre Evans, Andy Farmer and Mike Roberts who ended the competition on the same score.
There were also individual prizes for the longest drive and nearest the pin. Mags Berry won the ladies' longest drive and Ross Dent came out top for the men while Phil Gasche and Lynne Macfarlane won their respective mens and ladies nearest the pin competitions.
In the birdies and twos competition tennis club coach Roger Froud showed that he's no mean golfer by winning the prize.
Almost £300 was raised on the day for the club which has already been spent on a new gate at the back of the courts.
