MACMILLAN Nurses has received a big helping hand from West Devon Homes. The tenant panel of the registered social landlord presented its dedicated charity with a cheque for £2,301 at the panel?s annual meeting held at the Wharf, Tavistock. Tireless fundraiser Margaret Grylls presented the funds, which had been raised throughout the year with various events organised by tenant and residents? associations and West Devon Homes? staff donations. Next year?s dedicated charity will be Dartmoor Rescue. The panel also presented West Devon Homes tenant liaison officer Andy Ames with an engraved glass trophy, proclaiming him ?Simply the best!?, in recognition of the dedication and support he offers the panel and the various tenants? and residents? Associations. The annual meeting was well attended by around 100 people, including tenants and community representatives, West Devon Homes Board members and staff, Macmillan Nurses, Dartmoor Rescue, and representatives of local agencies such as Devon and Cornwall Police. Musical entertainment was provided by youth rock band ASB and the key speaker was Ken Williams, mayor of West Devon. Chair of the panel Liz Steele said: ?This annual meeting cemented the relationship between West Devon Homes and its customers still further, and saw three tenants re-elected to the board. ?I am a firm believer in grass roots opinion and therefore, tenants and residents? associations play a major part in good community relations. ?The commitment and conduct of our members are sound testament to both their spirit of community and the benefits of increasing tenant involvement in the decision-making processes of a housing association.?
