THE temporary traffic lights on Gunnislake’s Newbridge Hill are due to be removed today (Friday).

The lights, which have been in place for more than a week, have been causing some problems with increased congestion at busy times on New Bridge.

Cornwall Council has said work is being carried out to gather information on the condition of the road to assist with the design solution for any future strengthening works.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Council said: ’The temporary traffic lights have been in place while Cormac has been assessing the condition of the road and supporting structure for the council.

’This will allow us to consider how best to strengthen the road in the future. The assessment work should be completed on January 29 and the traffic lights will be removed then.’
