THE fire appliance in North Tawton has been temporarily re-located to A J Gregory and Son, North Park, while upgrade work is carried out at the Barton Street Fire Station.
The work to install shower and changing facilities and extra storage space will take approximately three weeks and local residents are being asked to be extra vigilant when hearing the appliance as it may well be coming from an unfamiliar direction.
Press officer for Devon Fire and Rescue Dave Canniford said the relocation meant the fire engine would be travelling up through the town when responding to incidents.
'Also, while parking in the town we would ask residents to remember that there are various points in the town centre which could cause problems to the progress of the appliance to an emergency call,' he said.
