A MECHANICAL fault has forced the temporary closure of the swimming pool at Parklands Leisure Centre in Okehampton. A moveable floor, which enables the overall depth of the pool to be adjusted to provide a comprehensive swimming programme, has developed a fault. Specialist contractors have assessed the damage and works will be carried out in the next few days. The pool is likely to be closed for at least a week. However, it is business as usual for the rest of the centre, which offers a 30-station fitness suite, a dance studio, sports hall, four outdoor tennis courts and a locally managed café.
