AN EIGHTEEN year-old who sustained major internal injuries in a three vehicle road traffic accident on the A386 between Hatherleigh and Okehampton is in a critical condition in hospital. The young man was transported to North Devon District Hospital by RAF helicopter. Two other people were also taken to hospital for treatment following the accident which occurred at 6.10pm on Tuesday . Firefighters from Hatherleigh and North Tawton used hydraulic rescue equipment and cutting gear to free two people from one of the vehicles. First aid and oxygen was also administered to the injured parties. The road was closed and diversions put in place. l HATHERLEIGH firefighters also attended an earlier road traffic accident within a mile of the second incident. Two cars and a lorry were in collision on the A386 at around 5.30pm on Tuesday. One casualty was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
