A CHOIR from the Czech Republic which has enjoyed international success will take to the Okehampton stage on Tuesday (July 14).

The Jerabinka Children's Choir will be joining the Okehampton Youth Chorus at Fairplace Church, St James Street, in a concert performance which starts at 7.30pm.

The event is organised by Wren Music, the Devon's folk arts charity, and although the concert is free, donations towards the charity's work with young people will be welcomed.

The Jerabinka Children's Choir has an international reputation, and has just competed at the International Eisteddfod in Llangollen, Wales.

The 40-piece teenage ensemble has previously sung in Poland, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Finland, France, England, the USA and Japan, where they won first prize in the Hamamatsu World Youth Choral Festival in 2007.

The concert is presented in association with the Tamar Valley Male Voice Choir, who are hosting the Czech choir during their visit to Devon.

The Okehampton Youth Chorus meets on Wednesday afternoons term-time, from 3.30pm to 5pm, at The Baptist Church, Fore Street in Okehampton.

New members are welcome. No auditions, no music reading, and no singing experience is needed.
