THIS was a fine team performance for the first match of the season. Tavistock started well with Weeks and Gordon having some good chances. Kelly and Hammond teamed up well in midfield and Blowey and Jones kept the width on the wings to provide some good crosses.
The first goal started from the back with the ball being worked via Coker, Glasspoole and Weeks before Gordon sprinted through and delivered a fine finish.
Budleigh were quick on the break and a fast winger crossed to the feet of a striker who tapped it over the crossbar from two feet out. Budleigh pressed time and time again but Maloney was confident in her goal area while in defence, Cox, Shaw, Glasspoole and Coker all teamed up well.
Weeks again came close but shots went wide. Hammond from midfield ran through and after beating the defence with only the keeper to beat shot wide.Gordon again broke through but again shot wide and Tavistock led 1-0 at half-time.
In the second half Tavistock started to relax and attacked and defended as a team. Moves built from the back to midfield and it was not long before Weeks scored again. Jones never stopped running and chasing and was rewarded with a long range belter of a shot that flew into the top of the net. Finally Kelly poked the ball through for an incredible Sarah Blowey strike into the roof of the net from some 25 yards out.
n TCFC Ladies are at home this Sunday at Langsford Park with a 3pm kick off.
