HUNDREDS of people of all ages trekked across the moor in teams as part of this year's Abbots' Way Walk.

The annual walk, organised by Tavistock and District Outdoor Education Forum and now in its 51st year, saw just under 500 people take part, of which 350 were under 18.

The challenging 24-mile walk started at Buckfast Abbey and ventured across the moor to Princetown and finished at Kelly College in Tavistock.

The walk is self guided, with various checkpoints along the way.

The Abbots' Way runs across the southern part of the moor and was used originally by tradesmen travelling between the two market towns of Buckfastleigh and Tavistock.

All but a handful of people made it across the finish line, to receive certificates for their efforts.
