THE twentieth anniversary Dartmoor Jailbreak will be held next month and organisers are appealing for entrants from West Devon.
More teams are being urged to enter the event, which raises money for the Vranch House school for children with cerebral palsy and physical difficulties in Exeter.
Teams of two or more are challenged to go ?on the run? from Dartmoor Prison wearing prison gear or other disguises. The teams are released from the old prison officers? club car park with between 12 and 96 hours to get as far away as they can. They must not pay for transport and must keep within the law.
Those who create new records with their performance will win a place in the Jailbreak Book of Records.
So far, 25 teams have entered including Torbay Police aiming for a new record of 22 countries in 96 hours dressed as crime-fighting superheroes; Batman, Robin, Spiderman and Superman.
Funds from the Jailbreak help run the school and centre and buy equipment such as walking and communication aids for children. Teams can also split the funds raised 50/50 with a charity of their choice.
Since the event was first held twenty years ago more than £400,000 has been raised to help children with cerebral palsy.
The grand 20th anniversary jailbreak takes place on Saturday, April 26. For an entry form and free information pack please telephone/fax Sue Gould on 01392 873543 or e-mail: [email protected]">[email protected]
