TAVISTOCK U7As went to Ivybridge sensibly confident of their own ability and left with the knowledge that there wasn?t a team at the festival that could beat them. Exeter Chiefs U7s went down first 3:1. Although playing against a mixed team of U7/8s and hampered by the awful weather conditions, Tavistock stormed into an early lead. Exeter played well when they had possession, however, Tavistock maintained firm control of the play throughout. The remainder of their matches followed a similiar pattern, good accurate passing, impressive runs and a grit and determination to maintain their previous record. The U7Bs also played some excellent matches. Some of these children are only just six and given the appalling conditions, they played impressively. Their obvious enjoyment, whether they won or lost, will be the backbone of the U7s team next season. Man of the Match was Will Partington who, even when soaked to the skin and frozen through, tirelessly kept tagging the opposition and set an excellent example. The Mini?s Lunchtime/Afternoon Presentation and barbecue will be held on May 15 at Tavistock RUFC.
