THE Citizens' Advice Bureau in Tavistock recently said goodbye to Thomas Phillips, who has been volunteering with the bureau since October 2012. Thomas, who graduated from the University of Birmingham with a 2.1 degree in Law, trained as a Citizens' Advice Bureau adviser, helping members of the local community to understand and act upon their rights and responsibilities as citizens. Jenny Roe, supervisor at the CAB, paid tribute to Thomas, who this autumn will still be starting work as a graduate trainee in tax for KPMG, a global professional services firm based in Canary Wharf. Jenny said: 'His advice was always accurate and well researched and the clients that he helped always had really positive things to say about him. I would like to think that his voluntary role at the CAB enabled him to obtain the day to day experience of helping clients that has contributed to him gaining this fantastic new job. 'We are all going to miss him very much and know that he will be successful in his new role.' The Tavistock CAB staff and volunteers celebrated Thomas' success with cake and wished him well in his new career. The Citizens' Advice Bureau in Tavistock is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am- 2pm and via Adviceline on 08444 111 444. The next training course for volunteer advisers is being planned for September with application forms available from [email protected]">[email protected]
