TAVISTOCK Rugby Club chairman Steve Langdon this week paid tribute to players and supporters, after a tense and thrilling Powergen Junior Vase quarter-final clash against Mount?s Bay on Saturday.
Despite seeing their lead crumble in the final ten minutes of the game, Steve said the team should be proud of a stunning performance.
?They played their hearts out,? said Steve.
?They were really up against it. It was very tense and when Tavistock came out of the starting blocks so well, it really shook the opposition.
?Towards the end they just played themselves into the ground. I think Mount?s Bay are a little fitter, towards the end we lost Dean Shipton and Josh Sutton and I think that was the turning point.
?The boys were gutted at the end, I?ve never seen anything like it.?
Steve said a big thank-you was due to all the supporters who made the effort to travel to Penzance for the match, and the players for their fine performance.
?Hopefully we?ll go on to win the league now ? and we?ve got the semi-final of the Devon Junior Cup against Cullompton too,? said Steve.
Tavistock play at home this Saturday.
All supporters are welcome.
