THREE woman from the Tavistock Embroiderers' Guild will feature on a Channel 4 programme featuring TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp.

Fran Baigent, from Lamerton, Brenda Poynter, from St Dominick, and Karyl Cragg from Chilsworthy were selected from hundreds of embroiders from around Devon to feature in 'Kirstie's Homemade Home'.

Fran was contacted by the Embroiderers' Guild, as the production company needed to find someone in Devon to teach Kirstie how to embroider.

Fran said: 'A cameraman from Glasgow came over to the Tavistock Royal British Legion to film us, and then he chose three people to feature in the show, which was me, Brenda and Karyl.'

The women went to Hatfield House to film a section of the programme, a three part special for Christmas on December 8, 9 and 10.

Kirstie brought one and a half dozen linen napkins for the filming, and the three women cut the material into triangles and showed Kirstie how to stitch a Christmas design — with a different design inside each one.

The woman were then invited to a Christmas dinner in November at Kirstie's house in Clovelly.

Fran said: 'The whole experience was really lovely — we all thought it was so exciting and none of us were nervous.

'Kirstie is lovely and she put us all at ease. It was a super experience for all of us.'
