A KELLY College teacher has been recognised for his hard work with a teacher of the year award. David Turnbull was awarded the EDT (Engineering Development Trust) teacher of the year award for his work with students in the Year 9 Go4SET scheme and L6 EES (Engineering Education Scheme). The award recognises his outstanding services to the scheme following consultation and full support from other schools and teachers in the South West. The aim of the EES and Go4SET schemes are to encourage Year 9 and A-Level students to consider careers in science, technology, engineering and maths and Mr Turnbull's involvement and leadership in these schemes over the last five years has led him to win this award. Mr Turnbull teaches in the product design department of the college — already a four year Good Schools Guide award winning department and also a key player in the Kelly 2018 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) initiative.
