TAVISTOCK CC held its first 20/20 tournament, supported by five West Devon teams plus the host club, on Sunday. A good number of people enjoyed a wonderful day?s cricket and fun. Next year the club would consider holding a bigger event with more local clubs taking part. During the day over 120 lunches and teas were provided by the superb ladies of Tavistock CC, followed by a wonderful barbecue. Results of the individual games are as follows: Bridestowe beat Lifton; Tavistock beat Lydford; Lewdown beat Bridestowe; Tavistock beat Buckland; Lifton beat Lewdown; Lydford beat Buckland. Final Tavistock v Lewdown ? Lewdown batted first, scoring 115 with South African Kyle Abbot scoring 37 including 8 fours. Hawkins scored 39, leaving Tavistock 116 to win. Luffman and Jarman scored superbly putting on 63 for the first wicket, Luffman 42 (4 fours, 3 sixes) and Jarman 36. The result was always in doubt with Wayne Downham hitting a six on the fourth ball of the last over. Individual performances: Luffman 153 runs in 3 innings (11 sixes, one through the president?s windscreen) and Lewdown?s Kyle Abbott (139 runs including a massive 102 not out). The tournament was sponsored by Spanish property specialists, Atlas International and the awards were presented by Tavistock president and Atlas Inter MD Stuart Munday.
