Bodmin Trophies Duchy League knockout cup
Mary Tavy 6
Gerrans 2
BOTH teams came into this match with few games between them, Mary Tavy the Duchy 3 side against Gerrans from Duchy 2 both having played the least games in their respective divisions.
This was probably the reason behind the slow start with both teams creating chances, but no-one looked likely to take any real advantage of them.
Alan Grylls, back from injury, sneaked the first for Tavy and Gerrans found the defence in fine form backed up by Simon Dunrow-Smith who blocked several good opportunities with some brave keeping.
Slack marking let the away team back in from a corner as they headed the equaliser and Tavy felt quite hard done by to go in still at level pegging.
Tavy brought on substitute Wiggy for the second half and James Coole who worked so hard in midfield along with Dan Brockington and Sam Pridham added two goals. Brockington added a forth with a clinical finish and the game was all but won.
Gerrans did break through to pull one back but Tavy answered with goals from Pridham and Scott Dent whose presence was felt throughout.
Gerrans tried to find a way back but found Gareth Patton a rock in the home defence making life difficult for missing Andy Pedrick to claim back his usual spot.
