MANSBRIDGE Balment and Ocean BMW have been unveiled as two main sponsors for the Tavy13 race on April 10.

The Tavistock half marathon looks set to be a bumper event this year as it is incorporating the Primary Schools Challenge. 350 children will take part on April 10, completing their final 13th mile on race day, having already completed the other 12 miles during the challenge. St Peter’s, Gulworthy and Whitchurch Primary Schools are among those participating.

Both Mansbridge Balment and Ocean BMW have ties to the area’s running community. Graham De Val of Ocean BMW trains with race organisers Tavistock Athletic Club and several Mansbridge Balment employees have children participating in the Primary School Challenge.

Martin Exley-Deane, chairman of Tavistock Athletic Club, said ‘it is an absolute pleasure to have the two companies on board’ and that the club was honoured to have them involved in the event.

Graham De Val of Ocean BMW said: ‘This is an ideal opportunity for Ocean BMW to be involved in a local event that has one of the most scenic courses in the UK. The lanes and views around west Dartmoor are second to none.’

Nick Henderson, MD of Mansbridge Balment said: ‘We’re delighted to be involved again with Tavistock Athletic Club after a break of a few years. Their connection with the community, through their work with local children and runners is something that we’re proud to be associated with.’
