THE Tavonians Theatre Company has just announced that its November production at The Wharf in Tavistock will be Charles Dickens' Great Expectations.
In celebration of Dickens' bi-centenary, The Tavonians are delighted to be able to present his best loved novel, in an exciting adaptation.
Director, Graham Dimmock, said: 'Dickens' caricature style of writing makes translation to the stage and screen an attractive proposition for those of us who like their theatre to be immediate and captivating.
'I want the audience to be entranced by characters such as Miss Havisham and Magwitch, which have been part of our collective memory for more than a century.'
The cast of about 16 ranges from the young Pip and young Estella, to Wemmick's deaf aged parent, with many excellent character roles for men and women of all ages.
There will be a reading of Great Expectations on Wednesday, August 8, open to everyone, whether wanting to audition or just enjoy an evening reading a great play.
Auditions start the following day, Thursday, August 9, with a further opportunity to audition on Monday, August 13.
Each event starts at 7.30pm, the reading and the first auditions take place in the Guide Hall (blue doors on the way into Bedford Car Park), the second auditions take place at the Tavy Club (in King Street).
Rehearsals will start in early September and will be on Monday and Thursday evenings and some Saturday mornings.
Performances of Great Expectations will be at The Wharf on November 20 to 23.
