Tavistock RFC U12s beat Exeter Chiefs in the final of the Cullompton Festival to win the Devon Vase.
Tavistock came through the group stages to take on Bideford in the quarter-final. They opened the scoring directly from the kick off when the forwards won the ball which was recycled to Laurence who darted up the touchline to score. Bideford never recovered and the pack then dominated the game and provided excellent ball for George, Ethan, James and Bernie to run in a further five tries and Tavistock ran out easy winners at 42-0.
In the semi-final they came up against a tougher Crediton side but the powerful forward play of Chris, Cameron, Steven, Will, Hugo and Ben L drove Harry over the line to give Tavistock a 7-0 lead at the interval. A similar move in the second half resulted in a try for Callum and secured a comfortable 14-0 victory.
In the final the team came up against a strong Exeter Chiefs side but Tavistock were smart enough to play most of the game in the opposition half.
Callum forced his way over from a line out to give Tavistock a 7-0 half time lead. Then early in the second half Ben G made good ground before offloading to Dan who beat his opposite number with a stunning sidestep and then sprinted 50 yards to score in the corner with the try of the tournament.
The forwards then sealed the trophy with a 21-0 victory by pushing Theo over to score from a driving maul.
