Tavistock Ladies AFC 13
Okehampton Ladies 0
IT was a frustrating start for Tavistock Ladies AFC against 10 player Okehampton. With the majority of play in the opposition's half, Tavistock struggled to get the ball in the net despite numerous attempts and driving challenges from Robyn Hammond.
The first goal came from central defender Nicky Crocker, who cleared the ball over the top of Oke's startled keeper. An otherwise lacklustre first half saw a shot from striker Sarah Blowey directed into the goal aided by an Okehampton player; this was followed up with another goal from Blowey.
The second half was a different game altogether; despite playing into a bitter wind Tavistock Ladies played superbly as a team, and notched up goals in succession.
Alison Hurley played formidably in midfield and new signing Holly Shaw had a superb game in defence, working well with Donna Hone on the wing. Blowey scored a further three goals, working in harmony with fellow striker Clarice Payne, who helped herself to a hat- trick. Kirsty Jones and Rachel Kelly also scored.
Okehampton rarely broke out themselves but showed determination and fortitude.
