Devon seconds A
Tavistock seconds v Sidmouth thirds
WHAT seemed like a sure fire win turned into a nightmare for high flying Tavistock as they were soundly beaten by bottom of the table Sidmouth.
Put in on a damp wicket Tavistock lost opener Newton with the score on 4. Jamie Stephens and Mark Witcher steadied the ship and took the score to 60 before Stephens was dismissed.
Three wickets fell with the score on 67 and only a belligerent 23 from McGahey added any significant runs. The Sidmouth spinners doing the damage - youngster Bess taking 6-25 and veteran Dibble 3-27 limited the score to 108. Tavistock took a wicket at each end to reduce Sidmouth to 2-4, which became 15-3. Munday (22) and Gater (53) took the score to 85 before another wicket fell. Bess and Mansfield then saw out the remaining runs to record a five wicket victory.
