TAVISTOCK travelled up the M5 to Cullompton to take part in the Devon U11s? festival

For the third year in succession they found themselves drawn in the same pool group as the eventual outright winners - Devonport Services.

Tavistock 20, Topsham 0

This was the first meeting with Topsham and therefore a strong Tavistock line-up soon found themselves in front with Jack Morgan and Barnably Frost scoring in the first half.

Some fine ball handling saw the match concluded in the next half by Mark Friend and Elliott Northmore.

Tavistock 0, Crediton 0

Another new contest, this time between two matched sides. Tavistock crossed the try-line three times in the first half but with no score awarded. Both sides defended well and strong mauling and good running from Dan Oner and Jack Morgan failed to break the stalemate.

Tavistock 0, Devonport Services 10

This was a big forward battle. First time tackling and strong rucking left the first half scoreless. Tavistock continued to keep Devonport tied down in the forwards for most of the game but the opposition?s speed in the backs finally overcame the defence, running two through before the whistle.

Tavistock 10, Teignmouth 5

The last match of the day produced some of the best rugby with both sides having nothing to lose. The open play and running from the backs had the pairing of Oner and Morgan carving their way through for Jack Morgan to open the account. Teignmouth replied and after sustained pressure from the Tavistock forwards, second row terrier Jack Haigh found the line. The final whistle left Tavistock as runners-up in the group.

This squad next convene at the Brickfields in Plymouth on April 14 for the ?Sweet Chariot Tour? tournament.
