TWO runners from Tavistock have signed up for this year’s London Marathon in support of St John Ambulance (SJA) and other runners have a fortnight to join them.
Gail Downham and Mark Pysden will take part in the race on April 24. The deadline for runners to take part with the charity is January 31.
In the 2015 marathon, more than 200 SJA runners raised more than £300,000 to support the charity’s lifesaving work.
Activities care co-ordinator Gail is running in honour of her mum who died age just 42 and was a St John Ambulance nurse teaching and using her life saving skills.
A drayman Mark is running in memory of his nan who supported the charity through her life, until she died in 2015, aged 83.
The SJA team will include first aiders, doctors, nurses and paramedics working closely with the London Marathon’s own medical director and team of doctors.
