Tavistock Colts 25

IT soon became apparent that Tavistock had the better three quarters while the home side pack looked well drilled at winning and retaining possession.

Tavistock took advantage of this and the big pitch to run in five tries.

Winger Tristan Sherlock took a pass from above his head after the ball had travelled at speed through the threes to beat his opposite number and cruise in under the posts.

Tavistock?s second came through skipper Mark Wheatley who picked up from number 8, spotted a gap and outsprinted the defensive cover to touch down.

OPMs answered with a try after a good forward drive before half-time.

Winger Simon Braithwaite continued his scoring streak after the ball had passed through the hands of Vanstone, Smith and Smerdon.

Soon after the forwards drove to the 22 metre line before Haig Gorman ripped the ball out and sprinted over.

Tavistock?s last try was scored by James Kaminski after one of his many sniping runs from scrum half.

Good lineout ball from Ian Rooke ensured good set piece possession throughout the game.

OPMs brought on fresh legs and ran in two tries which would have been more had not full back James McKinnel won all of his one-on-one tackles.

McKinnel also came into the line many times to take the attack into the opposition 22 metre area and performed his defensive kicking duties without error, thoroughly deserving his man-of-the-match nomination.
