TAVISTOCK Round Table held its first charity Christmas party and raised more than £900 for different good causes.
The Christmas festivities organised by the group in Tavistock Town Hall helped to raise the substantial amount for charities — which this year included the Son-Rise Specials’ Trust.
Round Table chairman Phil Timings said: ‘The raffle was something that we really focused on and we received overwhelming support from local businesses that, together, donated over £1,000 pounds worth of prizes.’
Phil added: ‘This amazing and generous support helped us to raise over £900 towards charity donations. This year we selected the Son-Rise Specials Trust to receive half of the amount raised on the night, with the remaining amount being donated to local charities in due course. It’s not often that you can attend a local event, have lots of fun, win some prizes and do some good for the local community — all at the same time. We’re already planning next year’s which we hope will be even bigger.’
