Tavistock’s Rotary Club is holding its Christmas lunch for people on their own over the festive season for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic struck last year.

Christmas last year was cancelled for the event at the United Reformed Church in Russell Street, but one of the organisers Judy Hirst said it would be back at 11.30am on Christmas morning with a traditional turkey dinner, with ‘lots of fun, friendship, music and presents’. She said volunteers would pick people up before 11.30am and take them home at around 3pm.

She said: ‘We are delighted to be able to hold the Christmas Lunch once again after having to cancel last year because of the pandemic. Places at the lunch are limited, so it is vital to book in advance. As always, there will be no charge for the day. We are also looking for volunteers to help with serving the meal, organising fun and driving people to and from their homes. There is no better way to spend Christmas morning than bringing joy to people in this way.’
