A NEWLY installed facility at Tavistock Rifle Club has allowed members to raise hundreds of pounds for Tavistock Hospital.
The club has recently undergone the first stage of a planned self-help refurbishment to the range facilities during which an automatic turning target system was installed. This system now allows club members to practice a new and exciting shooting discipline.
This refurbishment was part funded by a grant from County Councillor Debo Sellis.
To celebrate the club held a charity shoot in aid of the League of Friends of Tavistock Hospital. The competition took place on Saturday, January 27 with over 30 club members entering.
Lesley Gibson and Christine Leach from the League of Friends attended the event together with ward sister Helen Gregory.
Local veteran Chris Jones won the competition after a hotly contested final and he collected his winner’s medal and trophy from the organiser Roger Burch.
Roger, as well as organising the competition, also ran a raffle on the day. The club raised £370 for the League of Friends.
