A TAVISTOCK resident has expressed his anger after household rubbish and recycling was left outside his home on numerous occasions.
Steve Hall, a resident on Bannawell Street, said he was ‘disgusted’ at West Devon Borough Council after garden waste and rubbish was left outside his home, and neighbouring properties, for consecutive weeks.
Mr Hall said: ‘Since the work at the top of Bannawell Street started, residents have not had their rubbish, garden waste or recycling collected on the day stated by West Devon.
‘After numerous emails to them, yet again my recycling bins and garden waste are still outside my house this morning clogging the pavement. It’s not hygienic.
‘Our recycling bins were full last week and I don’t have anywhere now to put my recycling so it’s just piling up in my kitchen.
‘In one email they stated that we were to place items at a collection point, but no direction as to where that is. They stated they would send letters out to residents, but what a surprise, no letters have arrived — what do I pay my council tax for?’
A spokesperson for West Devon Borough Council said: ‘Waste collection vehicles are not permitted to stop at the controlled traffic lights, however, the contractors have agreed to take the waste to the start of the roadworks so that collections can be made. Although this is a highways initiative, we apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing for residents.’
