COLOURFUL characters brought an air of excitement to Tavistock town centre last Saturday.

The Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter, Alice and the White Rabbit — from Marvellous Adventures Entertainment Services — entertained the crowds as part of Tavistock’s Business Improvement District’s six-week summer festival.

The Queen of Hearts could be seen on the church lawn of St Eustachius’ Church playing croquet, people joined the Mad Hatter by the former Old Folks Rest Room on Brook Street for a tea party, and some even helped Alice hunt for the White Rabbit around the town.

After the event, BID chairman Robin Rich said: ‘It was fantastic and proved extremely popular — the town was packed.’
